Siddiq, affectionately known as "Sid", is the oldest son of Sithy Rameela and AWM Ghouse. Having attended Royal Primary School and Royal College, Colombo, he stepped into his father's footsteps to puruse a career in banking at The Chartered Bank in Colombo. He also played Rugby during his school days.

In his professional life he, subsequently, joined the Bank of Credit & Commerce International (BCCI) and thereafter ventured into his own business by partnering in a private sector firm involved in travel and overseas recruitment.

Siddiq is also very much involved in journalism and writes often, on diverse topics, to many newspapers and journals in Sri Lanka and overseas. He married Fenuza Zahir, daughter of ILM Zahir (New Central Stores, Pettah) and they have a son, Shiham, who is presently locatewd in Boston, USA. Fenuza passed away early in life after suffering a heart attack.

Siddiq's only child and son, Shiham also attended Royal College, Colombo, and has a son, Muhammed born in Colombo, and a daughter Aisha, born in Boston, USA in 2006. Shiham used to work in Finance for a leading garment manufacturing private sector establishment in Sri Lanka for their Boston Operations.

Shiham ventured into the field of finance and is a fully qualified Accountant by profession.
